GA4 & Google Ads Conversion Tracking That Counts Real Leads

GA4, Google Tag Manager, call tracking and Search Console set up so you know which ads, pages and searches bring calls, forms and booked jobs.

    A good fit if…

    • Businesses spending on Google Ads or Meta Ads without reliable lead counts
    • Companies that get most leads by phone
    • Owners who want to know which marketing brings booked jobs

    Not a fit if…

    • Businesses that want vanity reports without connecting them to leads

Why does conversion tracking setup matter?

Google Ads and Meta Ads optimize toward whatever you tell them is a conversion. If the account counts page views or button clicks, the system learns to find more of those, not more customers. Good tracking makes the bidding work for you.

It also answers basic business questions: which service gets the most calls, which city brings the best jobs and which pages lose visitors before they contact you.

What should GA4 setup for a small business include?

In GA4, a key event is an event that measures an action that is particularly important to your business. We create events for the actions that lead to revenue and mark them as key events.

    • Form submissions, counted once per real submission
    • Clicks on phone numbers and tracked calls
    • Quote or booking requests
    • Chat or WhatsApp clicks, where you use them
    • Internal traffic filtered so your own team does not inflate the numbers

What does a Google Tag Manager setup do?

Google Tag Manager is the container that loads your tracking tags: GA4, Google Ads, Meta Pixel and others. Instead of pasting code across your site, every tag lives in one place, with clear names and triggers. We set up the container, document each tag and test it in preview mode before publishing.

How do Google Ads conversions and enhanced conversions work?

Google Ads conversions can be created from GA4 key events once the accounts are linked, or from the Google Ads tag directly. We choose one primary source per action so leads are not counted twice.

Enhanced conversions for leads use hashed customer data from your forms, such as an email address, to match conversions to ad clicks more accurately. When a lead later becomes a customer, that information can be imported back into Google Ads.

How does call tracking for Google Ads work?

For most home service businesses, the phone is the main lead source. Call tracking shows a tracking number to visitors from each channel, so a call can be tied to the ad or page that produced it. We set a minimum call duration so short calls and wrong numbers do not count as leads, and we keep your main business number on your Google Business Profile.

Can you import offline conversions from a CRM?

Yes. When your CRM records that a lead became a booked or paid job, that result can be sent back to Google Ads with the click ID and hashed lead data. Google can then optimize toward jobs instead of form fills. We set this up with Google's supported import tools and keep the process simple enough for your team to maintain.

    Consent and privacy

If you use a cookie banner, consent mode passes each visitor's choice to Google tags. When a visitor denies consent, consent-aware tags do not store cookies, and Google uses the remaining signals to model some measurement. We connect consent mode to your banner so tracking respects what visitors choose.

What is a Google Search Console setup for?

Search Console shows how your site appears in Google Search: which queries bring impressions and clicks, which pages are indexed and which have problems. We verify the property, submit your sitemap and link it to GA4 so you can see organic search next to your leads.

    Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between a GA4 key event and a Google Ads conversion?

A key event is an important action you mark in GA4. A Google Ads conversion is what Google Ads uses to measure campaigns and guide bidding, and it can be created from a GA4 key event once the accounts are linked.

Do I need Google Tag Manager?

It is not mandatory, but it keeps all tracking in one place and makes changes safer. For sites with several tags, such as GA4, Google Ads and Meta, we recommend it.

Will call tracking change my business phone number?

Your main number stays on your Google Business Profile and printed materials. Tracking numbers appear only to website visitors from the channels we measure, and calls forward to your existing line.

    Who owns the tracking accounts?

You do. GA4, Tag Manager, Search Console and Google Ads are created or kept under your business, and we work with manager access.
